GTIME as part of the ENGINEXT Project
The Global Technology and Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship (GTIME) master’s program at the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) has been a funding partner in the Hamburg University for Technology’s (TUHH) central teaching development project, “Enginext,” since the 2026-27 winter semester.
About the ENGINEXT Project
Preparing engineering education for the future is the central goal of the ENGINEXT project (2025-2029). To address the challenges of an increasingly complex world, we need engineers who can actively shape technological progress and the world around them.
The TUHH is therefore transforming its campus into a unique campus lab: a living laboratory where students work on real-world challenges of the future in a practical, interdisciplinary, and creative manner.
An international innovation and knowledge transfer perspective through GTIME
As a “Global Innovation Living Lab,” GTIME offers unique structural conditions to complement the ENGINEXT project. While the Enginext concept views the campus as a living lab for addressing real-world technological and societal challenges, GTIME expands this approach to include an international innovation and technology transfer perspective: the campus is used not only as a laboratory for problem-solving but also as a launchpad for innovations with global scaling potential.
Thanks to its distinctive features, including block-structured teaching formats, interdisciplinary content, an international cohort, and the second year of study at a partner university abroad, GTIME is particularly well-suited as a pilot and experimental space within the ENGINEXT framework. GTIME is not a parallel subproject, but rather a complementary extension of existing ENGINEXT structures and participating degree programs. In particular, GTIME can strengthen synergies with degree programs already involved in the project by complementing technical solutions developed in the “campus as a living lab” with perspectives on innovation and project management, entrepreneurial thinking, and international transfer.
Conversely, the technical innovations emerging from the ENGINEXT project can offer valuable inspiration and starting points for GTIME students’ projects or master’s theses.
GTIME expands the Enginext concept to include an additional, strategically valuable dimension: from the campus as a testing ground to the development of innovations that can be scaled internationally.
