Examination Form: Project work & written elaboration

The module Agile Design Methods is divided into two courses:

  • Agile Design Methods Lecture

  • Agile Design Methods Seminar

This module introduces students to the idea of agile design and innovation methods.

Agile Design Methods Lecture and Seminar

The core of this project seminar is to develop a toolbox to manage Innovation Projects systematically. The course is divided into three sections:

  1. Theoretical input on relevant project management methods, innovation methods and creativity methods.
  2. Groupwork: Practical training and application of a Design Sprint (Understand, Define, Ideate, Decide, Prototype, Validate)
  3. Virtual corporate simulation: practical training in a virtual corporate environment applying an appropriate toolkit.

Beyond learning methods for managing Innovation Projects, students will also experience how agile design methods foster a new working paradigm, a mindset of collaboration and agility. The students will determine the connection between methodology and working culture and reflect on their personal development on the one hand and the team dynamics on the other hand.

Learning Outcomes:

Learn how to utilize agile design methods in Innovation Projects and how to connect to the project management and the implementation level in a team. Learning how a Design Sprint works and run through a process, solving a challenge.

Structure/Content:

  1. Introduction PM, Innovation and Creativity methods
  2. Perform a Design sprint with its six phases
  3. Apply the method toolkit in a virtual corporate simulation
  4. Final project presentation and reflexion
